Industry and Academia
There is often a perceived conflict between Industry and Academia, but the two work hand in hand. You can’t really have one without the other. To use an analogy, Academia is the brain, thinking up the ideas and theories. While the Industry is the hands, practically applying those ideas. Both these components are needed in order to fully understand the concept of transmedia storytelling. Often they work in conjunction with each other, for instance, a new discovery in filmmaking might influence the theories about it, while a new theory or methodology might impact upon the practicality of creating.
